So, my mom and I were passing a little time yesterday with the newspaper. She thought it would be fun to do something mindless and look at our horoscope. And, guess what? We found out for the first time what Joey's sign is---Cancer. Joy! We are Day 14 and still have an ANC of zero. The 100 white cells are holding on, and we do have other factors still in the blood. Looking at Joey today, you would all see why I am not worried, yet. With his energy and your prayers, I know we will soon see white blood counts. Our big challenge of the day is eating. He still cannot taste much and it is a BIG struggle to get him to eat. We are trying everything today. Funny how all of you agree the 1200 a day goal shouldn't be hard to reach. They have cut off his TPN for the daytime hours. Overnight, they give him TPN and fat/lipid formula. Grandma Bonnie suggested we need to sign up to donate for the fats needed. Bet we wouldn't have trouble filling up that drive!! I know I won't. I have been wearing sweatpants for a month and eating cookies every day. I need to put on some real clothes to see how bad it has become. Of course, Jeff is home dieting, and losing 20 lbs already. Today, the harmonica volunteer came in and my friend Rhonda had given Joey a harmonica. So, they played together. Joey was so cute trying to make the different sounds. Great way to pass some time. He's working on a number for the next visit. He loves music like his mom. He played a tune that he said sounds a little like Batman. Nothing wrong with the imagination. Thank God.
