I am in the Family Resource Center of the hospital to update all of you. My computer in the room is not working. Apparently, the entire floor is having a problem. Joey just went out for a nap, so I escaped for a little while. As Grandma said, he has been very active today. The day started a little rough with a fit when the hospital priest, Father Mike, tried to give him a blessing. I know Father John will relate to this story. After he settled down from that, he had a good day. He did receive platelets today as his were in a critically low status. He should be pumped up by tomorrow. We have yet to see a rise above 100 white cells, but other factors in the blood are improving. So, we are satisfied that he is on the mend. His mouth is much better and he is trying to eat more. He ate a whole pack of Easy Mac for breakfast. Yeah! The goal of 1200 calories per day is to get him off the TPN feeding. Yesterday, he did 500. We have a ways to go. I am so much more at ease to see him peppy. I actually have less pep than him today. But, that is my own fault. I took Gina to King's Island on Sunday with my great friend Rhonda and her 2 kids. We had a blast. Gina is tall enough for most of the big rides--and proved to be brave enough too. We rode the Beast and Vortex! Just what I needed. Today, I spent an hour out of the room making a scrap book page. The child life department sponsored it for parents as a release. I enjoyed it. My mom and sister had sent down some albums for Joey. So, I stole some pictures from that and made a birthday party page for him. He loved it, and I enjoyed a little mindless creative time. Vickie, you would be proud of my page. Thanks to EVERYONE for the cards. He received 6 today and LOVED it. You are all wonderful. Grandma Bonnie comes back tomorrow. I am sure she will see a huge improvement from when she left. I do. Love to all of you.
