We are Day Plus 8 and still no improvement in his counts. But, we are seeing an improvement in his spirit. He played well today. We were on the mat playing action figures. A few packages came with great surprises. That always makes for a great day. New things are welcome in this room that is feeling quite small about now. In rounds this morning, I told them that I think Joey wants to eat, he is just not hungry due to the supplemental nutrition they are giving him. So, they promptly cut it back to induce hunger. Tonight, he ate some easy mac. He is still complaining he cannot taste anything. But, that should improve in time as the mucousitis goes away. Again, we need counts to rise for that. Today's medical question from Joey, "Mom, what does my chin do?" Joey is charming the staff. Many have brought him gifts already. Anytime the pumps beep, Joey is the one who now hits the nurse button. Last time he did, the desk answered, "Yes, Spiderman, How can we help you?" He loved that. Joey's looking forward to the weekend when he can see Daddy and Gina again. Me too. I could use a small retreat. Daddy and Gina are coming down with my friend Rhonda and family for the weekend. My mom is going to stay to relieve Jeff which should free me up a bit to hang with Gina. She is doing well in school so far and liking it a little more, I think. Thanks to all who sent things---I have this crazy idea that I will write a thank you to everyone who has donated time, money, gifts and support to our cause. I just don't know when....so thanks to all at this time. I truly appreciate all your support as does Jeff and our entire family. I hope to report a rise in counts tomorrow. You'll know when I do.
