We had a rough night. Joey was going to the bathroom every 20 minutes. He has severe diarrhea and pain with it. Overnight, he was SCREAMING out while going and I was overwhelmed with a helpless feeling of not being able to make it all better. This morning on rounds, I am told this is all expected and normal. His white count rose slightly which brought me to tears when I heard that at 4 am. But, this morning I am told it is not indicative of engraftment. It may fall again. It is very early for engraftment. We probably have at least 10 more days of this. Today, Joey is much more comfortable. They increased his morphine dose and it is taking the edge off. He is reading all about sharks with Grandma Mary Ann right now. Ben and Nick sent shark teeth to him that they got at Myrtle Beach-He wanted to sleep with them. He also loved the football button of his two big cousins in uniform. Gina and Mitchell distracted him yesterday as well with Aunt Lori. Joey is still talking about playing video games with Mitchell. All in all we are where we should be. It's just not the best place to be. I will keep you all updated. Looking for a shower right now...Til then.
