I know you are all on the edge of your seats..Joey is finally resting so I am taking the moment to update. He received 6.6 million stem cells today. The transfusion went well. But, he is miserable from all the prep. He was up all night with diarrhea every 30-40 minutes. By the time he sat there for 10 minutes and I cleaned him up, he had about 15 minutes before he started yelling that he had to go again. Neither of us slept at all. He is understandably quite cranky today. It did make his day to learn that this is James Bond's Birthday. Thanks Cathy. The attending physician this week is Brittish as well. She told him that she knows James Bond. His eyes were huge. Now, we wait for the cells to engraft (make new cells) and tackle any obstacle that comes in our path. Joey had a white blood count of 10 this morning. Normal is 5500 to 15,500. We are definitely starting from scratch. But, I have a real peace that we will make it today. Not sure why---but, who cares. Must be a strong moment. I'll try to post again later this evening. Thanks for all the support. It is so hard for our family to be divided. Jeff is under a ton of stress too handling all of the home stuff, Gina, and wondering what is happening here like all of you. Thanks to all who continue to lift us up. We couldn't do this without it.
