Hallelujah! Joey had a good day. He played some of his video games and joked around with some grandparents. When I arrived, he was tired from his activity, but otherwise looking good. He tolerated a clear diet today very well. He is hoping for real food tomorrow. All that said, we are rejoicing over the pathology report. In general terms, the edges of the tumor showed inactive, dead tissue. The body of the tumor was mostly maturing cells or ganglion type of cells. There were a few nodules of viable, active disease, but the fact that they were encompassed by dead tissue is VERY positive. Now, all we are left with is a faint shadow of tumor that remains on the skull. We hope the next round of chemo will eliminate that. We were told that area can also be radiated if needed. The struggle of this week all seems worth it with Joey's ongoing good recovery and the elimination of the tumor. I have a huge sense of relief that this step is behind us. I feel sure Joey can tackle the road ahead. I asked him yesterday if anything hurt, and he said to me in his sweet little voice, "Don't worry about me Mom, I'm fine." Sure Joey--no problem.
