Well, after some calculation by "rainMan" daddy, we thought it would be quite difficult for Joey to drink 14OZ's an hour of this cherry #%$^ that helps him clear his bowels for surgery. Clear this area is needed to get better access to the kidney surgical site and also if there is a chance they would need to work on part of his bowel near the tumor site. After a valiant attemp the first hour, Joey only mnaged to get 3-4 OZ's down. I was actually able to get the pharmacy to access a Cherry flavored agent that has 52% less sodium (salt taste). Basically, sounds like they don't stock the flavored stuff becasue the kids just can't drink the volume. Well, 52% less salt or not, I taseted the crap and NO WONDER THESE KIDS CAN'T DRINK THE SHIT! Adults need to drink 8OZ every 10 minutes until they drink the whole 4 Litre jug.... believe me, I saw many adults that have not been able to drink that amount when I worked ona nursing floor. Anyway, we had to go the Nasal Gastric Tube via the nose. The tube is "greased" and they put it through the nose and it goes down to the stomach. It's more irritaing to the back of the throat (gag reflex). Joey freaked out (it killed us) but he settled down and fell asleep after about 1/2 hour. He now will get the medicine to make him poop, through this tube until he BASICALL POOPS CLEAR STUFF (IF YA REALLY WANT TO KNOW!). Laura says I am writing too much, but my theory for this is to learn and hopefully ease you fear. He will be fine tonight and the tube will be removed after 3-4 hours. The surgery is tomorrow at 10AM and we thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers which continue to guide us to a miracle story that will make true believers in peopels faith in God and his presence in all of our lives.
