We had quite a weekend. Joey made it home on Friday night. And, we had a busy Saturday. Gina and I received several emails regarding Alex's Lemonade Stand. It is a national project started by an amazing young girl named Alexandria Scott. She has neuroblastoma as well. She was diagnosed 2 days before her first birthday and is still dealing with it at age 8. When she was 4 years old, she had a lemonade stand to raise money for her hospital. The idea grew into a nationwide project to raise money for pediatric cancer research. There is more about it at www.alexslemonade.com. Anyway, Gina and I made fliers on Thursday. Gina passed them out in the pouring rain on Thursday afternoon all around our neighborhood. And, on Saturday, we had Gina's Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale. Our wonderful neighbors and family baked their hearts out to support our stand. And, those who didn't bake, bought. Aunt Lisa helped out with our display. Gina even sold some of her toys to raise money. Joey helped me make Lemonade, and Daddy tried his best to make change....The group effort paid off and we raised $400.00 for pediatric cancer research. It was a great feeling to give back a little of what all of you have been giving to Joey. And, the kids learned a valuable lesson in giving as well. Today, we just hung out at home most of the day. Joey still has a few nauseating moments, but all-in-all, he tolerated this last round better than expected. He will go in tomorrow for blood counts, and we will learn more about the proposed surgery date on Thursday. We'll keep you updated as we learn more. Bye for now.
