Well-we're still here....Jeff relieved me tonight so I could attend Gina's swim class. It was parent observation night and I have missed the last few. She is a little fish. I was proud of her. Joey is feeling fine---I think he is ready to break out of there. I know I am. Today, they reviewed his cultures again and identified an additional strain of infection from the October 12th blood draw. And, although it has not shown up since, they did an ultrasound of his heart as a precaution. That was done at 4:00 pm and Joey cooperated very well. He is still without fever. He is doing well without his line in his chest. He has to be stuck more often as an inpatient, but I am hopeful that once we beat this thing, he will cooperate for a weekly stick for blood products. I hugged him nonstop today. It felt so good to hug his bare chest without feeling anything coming out of it. Hallelujah! He and I are getting to be quite a team on a new video game we rented, Sly II. I said to him today, "Joey, do you think you and I an beat this level?" He said, "Mommy, if you got the sonic, I got the BOOM!" I couldn't stop laughing! He is keeping it light in the room, and in my life. Gina and I were able to take in a chick flick last night as well before I returned to the hospital. We were the only 2 in the theatre. Kind of cool. We could talk or whatever. It was wonderful. So, all in all, we are in a holding pattern until his infection is clear and fully identified. I am hopeful for a Wednesday discharge, but that may be premature. Sorry for the infrequent updates---it has been a crazy few days. Love you all.
