Tonight, we were in our parade. And, it was more magical than anything Walt could have cooked up for us. We attended the kick-off ceremony for the Relay for Life. At the start, all of the survivors took a victory lap. Each had a yellow shirt, but none wore as big a smile as Joey. He was on Jeff's shoulders, waiving to the standing, cheering crowd! Gina carried his name on a paper flower. "Walking on Sunshine" was playing, but we were all floating on air. I didn't expect such a moving feeling...but then, I didn't expect that we would be on a victory lap after just one year. My sweet boy has inspired us all to grow so much in that time. And, I couldn't be more proud. Last night, I called him Sweetheart. He said, "Mommy, I know why you call me Sweetheart....because I'm sweet and in your heart!" Exactly. And, tonight Joey was in the hearts of all who watched and celebrated our little champion. He just walked in to find me tooting his horn once again, and I asked him, "What would you like me to say about your parade." And, he said, "I had a great time and I SURVIVED! And, tell them, I REALLY, REALLY Loved to survive." I think they know that, Joey. And, I really loved to be there for you on your survival journey. You will always be in my heart, because you are the sweetest boy alive.
