Well-I've been gone for a few days. My sister and I had booked this past week in Florida to help my dad who was supposed to have surgery. His procedure was postponed, so, we went anyway for a visit. My Grandpa Flaherty used to have a policy about vacations...he would say, "You have to go like Hell while you're gone, so you know you've been somewhere." We had the reverse policy. We did a lot of laying on a chair, by the pool, in the sun. It was HEAVEN!!! When I returned, I still knew I had been somewhere. But, I have to give it to Jeff. My house wasn't too bad. My kids are still alive, and so is he! The only casualty I have discovered is another fish. (A moment of silence for Spider-Man, the red and blue fish, please.) While I was gone, Jeff just couldn't outlast Joey one evening. He fell asleep waiting on our Superhero to wind down. He woke up at midnight to find Joey still playing video games! He said, "Joey, what are you doing? Do you know how late it is?" Joey said, "WHO CARES!!! Mommy's not home!" Well, I am now, and looking at a full week ahead. On Thursday and Friday, Joey and I will be at the hospital for two days of scans. These are the six month, post-transplant series. I don't expect any results until early, the following week. I look at him, running around, and that is God's gift to me. It gives me peace about the future. Being away from him this past week, I was working myself into some anxiety. Now, I can squeeze him anytime a twinge of doubt creeps in. It is really wonderful. Joey said, "Mommy, I missed you every day you were gone. Will you sit on the couch and snuggle with me?" No problem. Til next time.
